Cantilevered New Zealand Rimu Desk

Constructed from 200mm x 50mm heart rimu rafters rescued from an old furniture factory demolition, this desk, shelving and filing cabinet were constructed to fill this very specific space in our client's small office. With papers that required filing in an ugly metal filing cabinet, hiding it away in the desk was a critical part of the brief, as was ensuring legroom was maximised by cantilevering the top and eliminating unnecessary supports in the corner. This desk was finished with Danish oil.
